Student Savings Reaches Rp. 71.66 Billion

PT BPD Kaltim Kaltara (Bankaltimtara) will continue to boost the growth of Student Savings (Simple) during 2018. Because, the program initiated by the government in collaboration with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) since 2015 is one way to increase the savings customer base.

The Head of Bankaltimtara Secretariat Explained Abdul Haris Sahilin, from 13 banks that organized Simpel, Bankaltimtara was able to dominate the share of customers as much as 81.12 percent by acquiring 57,494 customers from a total of 71,158 customers in 2016. So getting an award from OJK Kaltim.

"In December 2017, we collected more than 115 thousand customers with a total savings of Rp. 56.54 billion. Then the increase over the past six months showed an encouraging trend. In June 2018, total customers were 120,108 with a balance of Rp. 71.66 billion. "It's a school kid who saves, the balance is that much," Haris explained, to the Kaltim Post, Wednesday (11/7).

According to him, the success was supported by the breadth of Bankaltimtara's reach to the remote areas of East Kalimantan-Kaltara. With network coverage, customers in even the farthest areas can get simple access. Bankaltimtara also provides 22 units of car fleets to go to each school in these two provinces. With the aim of being able to early form behavioral patterns and character of students to be economical, careful in using money, and like to save.

"The existence of savings products is one way to find new sources of funding for credit distribution. As well as being able to boost the growth of deposits (third party funds) even though the share of customers and the nominal funds collected is not much compared to other products, "said Haris.

Despite having a good opportunity, Bankaltimtara does not rule out other products to collect deposits. In fact, now 70 percent of Bankaltimtara DPK comes from the private sector and the rest from the regional government.
